Dewsbury and District Cricket League appoint a new Chairperson

The committee and members clubs accepted the nomination of Basharat Hussain to lead the league for season 2021.

Basharat Hussain has been working with the league since last season and assisted the previous Chairperson Altaf Hussain during a difficult season.

Basharat brings with him wealth of strategic and analytical experience in introducing efficient processes and increasing the competitiveness of the game by encouraging younger players to excel at an amateur level. He is a believer to provide for the many and not just the few that love the game and want to play at the highest level.

Basharat’s focus is to help the Dewsbury and District League committee to:

• Promote cricket at a local level
• Encourage more people to take up the game
• Create new teams/clubs
• Work in partnership with Yorkshire Cricket Board and local authorities to build on existing strategies
