Whiterose collect their first silverware

All the four teams, Scouthill CC, Heaton Park CC, Great Horton Sports CC and Whiterose put on a display of some outstanding cricket that the league is renowned for. All the teams can be proud of their achievements particularly as 3 out for the 4 teams not only qualified whilst playing in the Crescent Section (2 tier of the league) but got to the semi finals. Well done to all teams.

All the games went to the wire and kept the spectator on the edge of their seat whether you were watching from a atmosphere full ground at Park Avenue or your armchair at home. Cricketer lovers followed all the matches from as far as Pakistan and the USA.

With over three thousand views between the two days this weekend has been the most successful set of events for the league and sets the bar higher for the league to improve on its achievement next season.

A big thank you to Nasa Hussain, groundman at Park Avenue, our live streaming partner Whiterose Direct Sports and our financial sponsor Syhiba Restaurant and Yorkshire Cricket Foundation.

Thank you to all the clubs for the positive feedback in the success of both events and particular appreciate to committee members, Faisal and Adil for assisting the setup of both events and presentation, Amir with the league stall and presentation. Methab for doing what he does best and worked his magic to upload fixtures so we can then stream them live within minutes of completion of the fixture. A great team effort, thank you all the committee members and also Shahnawaz, Farakh Hussain and Amar Ayub for assisting with the wicket during the innings. Great job from our league scorer for an accurate ball by ball scoring from Asif Jawed.

Congratulation to Whiterose for securing their first silverware since the inauguration of the league, it wasn’t easy for them. Great Horton Sports dominated the first half of the game as they accelerated to 92 runs in the first 56 balls with the loss of just 2 wickets and looked to set a total beyond 150 but the spell of spinner put the brakes on and Whiterose restricted them to 129 for 9 wickets. Whiterose lost 2 early wicket on 32 runs and lost to further two wickets of key batters Kershaski and Cosmond, the match seem to be slipping away for Whiterose at 118 for 8 needing 11 of 13 balls, Man of the match Yasir Ali finished the game by hitting a 6 on the 3rd last ball of the innings to secure a 2 wicket win to qualify in the finals

The final game between Whiterose and Heaton Park kept the crowd glued to their seats at the ground until the last ball as Whiterose secured a 8 runs win to claim their first trophy, watch the record live stream for all the action.
