PKWA defend the cup title

PKWA have struggled in the league this season as they sit at the foot of the league table but didn’t take any chances when they had to defend their cup title. PKWA fielded their first XI choice of players against league leaders KK CC.

PKWA batted first and set are target of 161 and were all bowled out in the 36th overs with contribution coming from Irfan Darr (23), Umar Farooq (25), Raja Nadeem (30), Wajid Rafiq (19) and an unbeaten innings from Hassan Khan (27). PKWA recovered quickly as they lost their first wicket on just 2 runs on the board but the 2nd wicket partnership between Irfan Darr and Umar farooq put them back in control. The bowling from Majid Hussain (5 – 30 runs) and Abdullah Noor (3 for 36 runs) restricted PKWA to 161 runs.

KK also lost an early wicket with just 4 runs on the board and but a 2nd wicket partnership showed some promise but PKWA bowlers had other plans are they dominated the 2nd innings, M Yasir (18) and Mohammed Zahid (20) were only batters to provide some resistance. PKWA bowled KK out in the 19th overs with just 69 on the board. Out of the four bowlers used for PKWA, three of them took all the wickets. Babar Shazad (4 for 23), Mohammed Rafiq (3 – 21) and Wajid Rafiq (2 – 9).
