Majority of the games are played in good sportsmanship spirit and both players and match official enjoy the games and the standard of cricket, however we have a minority of players who not only spoil it for the players but also the match official. Recently the feedback from match officials is that low level decent is on the rise and we expect players to behave respectfully to match officials when give out or when an appeal is turned down particularly when the competition is now at a stage where clubs are playing for championship, promotion or avoiding relegation. Several players have been referred to the disciplinary panel which will be held next Monday. Just to remind clubs and players when a suspension is handed to players it applies to all cricket and players will not be able to play in any affiliated league cricket throughout the week in all of England.
Interesting results today as you would associate good weather with high scoring games but that was not the case for some of the Premier Section who had some low scoring games which is very unusual for the standard of cricket in the section.
We did get some extraordinary scores, new member Hanover who are now favourites for promotion into the Crescent Section put 415 runs on the board in their reduced 40 over game against Leeds Stars who batted the overs out with a total of 136 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. The second highest scoring game of today was between Gemini Falcon and AMYA North East, Gemini Falcon batted first and scored 321 runs and were bowled out in the final 45th over and return AMYA North East were bowled out in the 35th over for 202 runs.
The top and the bottom of the Premier Section is still open and it now looks we will have a new league champions as both previous winners Bhalot Strikers and Kashmir will now have to settle for middle table. Will Northern Warriors and Karmand maintain their 3rd and 4th place respectively to qualify for the T100 in Season 2025. Kings XI Lahore’s win against Rising Stars has now put 4 clubs in the relegation zone.
With 51 points Brighouse Qalandars only need 30 points from the final four games to secure the promotion spot in the Star Section and likely to play Hanover for the championship title.
