One of the best final if not the best, the match started of with overcast and spells of light rain but that didn’t stop the players from providing some outstanding cricket.
Bhalot Strikers lead by Danish Hussain (27) and Fahid Rehman (60) took the bowlers on and put on a opening partnership of 67. Fahid continued the attack with one down Shaban Raheem (37) and they took the total onto 111 before Fahid was caught out by Skipper Raqeeb Younas of the bowling of Naveed Malik who was the most economical in their innings. Middle order Dixit Vaqas (69*) held his end but lost partners at the other end, Bhalot Strikers ended with 247 in their 45 over with one 10 minute rain interruption. The best bowling figure from Whiterose was from Muhammed Rameez (2 for 38).
Whiterose had a disappointing start as they lost 3 wickets for just 44 runs and dugout was quiet and the writing was on the wall but a man of the match innings from Waleed Akhtar (96) turned the fortune of his club, scoring a run a ball. The game turned in favour of Bhalot Strikers when they took the wicket of both Waleed and Bushan Talawdker going for 184 for 4 to 191 for 5. Bhalot Strikers became load and the hope of a win was back on, Whiterose lost both the Vice captain, Cosmond Walters and Ed Brown cheaply and it looked the early effort were going to be wasted. The run rate never went above 6 run per over and the game went to the final over with just 1 wicket in hand with the Skipper, Yasir Ali to bowl the final over and 8 runs needed on the board. Sam Johnson took a single on the 1st delivery with Waqas Khan on strike who swings and misses the 2nd ball. he then takes a single on the 3rd ball. Sam takes another single on the 4th ball but Waqas misses the ball on the 5th ball needing 6 to win on the last ball. Yasir balls on the off side and spectators watch the ball hit the 2nd step of the stand with a pitch invasion from the Whiterose team. The script couldn’t have been better written for Whiterose, can they now go onto to complete a treble, its all to be played for with the T100 final tomorrow (Monday, 26th August from 10.30am) – https://fb.watch/ubqUy_0a2B/ Final over video.
