Khan Cricket Club proved to be a team ready for the Premier Section as they completed their season unbeaten and crowned Star and Crescent Section Champions for season 2020.
On a dry wicket with some support for the bowlers at Jinnah Arena anything over 150 would have been difficult to chase but the innings from the inform Hisan Khan (30) and backup by the Skipper Uzair Ali Khan consolidated their innings after losing their first wicket in the sixth over. The two batters took the score up to 48, losing Hisan Khan to a bowling change. Mohammed Shakeel got the crucial wicket in his first hour as he bowled out Hisan Khan, Subhan tails were up and the pressure switched to Khan who continue to score at a rate of 4 an over and setting themselves a target of 140 plus. A few chances went begging as Subhan continued to take wickets but struggled to restrict Khan scoring rate. During the last 15 overs Khan scored 75 runs to take their total to 175 in their 35 overs with the loss of 9 wickets. The pick of the bowlers for Subhan was Ehtisham Uddin with bowling figure of 4 for 39.
Subhan having lost to Khan in the play off’s were under pressure and also chasing the highest innings total of the season, they needed something special to give them the start they needed but unfortunately it wasn’t to be as they lost 4 quick wickets in the first 11 overs with only 24 on the board. The only two players to provide some hope of chasing the total was Mohammed Shakeel (40) and Ethisham Uddin (30) but once they were back in the pavilion the tail didn’t last as Subhan were all bowled out for 123 in the 30th over. The opening combination of Mahir Ali and Sajid Ali who took the 4 wickets between them turned the game in Khan favour and they continued to take wickets quickly.
