Match Report – 15th August 2021

As we now approach the final quarter of the season the race for 4th place seems to have open up as Diamond, Darulshafa and Karmand all gained maximum points in their Sunday’s fixtures. The top four clubs in Premier Section along with the top four clubs of Crescent and Star Sections who will play The Hundred competition on Bank Holiday August 2022. Whiterose play Kashmir at Park Avenue this weekend, can they defeat Kashmir to make the chase for championship title go to the final game. Khan 1st XI have had a tough season with players being stuck abroad and now confirmed as relegated, whilst Bradford Moor and AK Eagles try to avoid relegation both teams need to collect just 40 – 60 points out of the maximum of 80 points to avoid relegation if Subhan pick maximum points from their last four games.

After 14 league matches Kashmir lost gracefully against 2nd place Bhalot CC at Moorland Cricket Club. The match had all the excitement from a top of the table clash and the innings of Adil Mehmood (111) gave the upper hand to Bhalot as they set a target of 257 in the 45 overs. Kashmir lost early wickets and the target looked further away but with a strong batting line they fought back with Faisal Javed (68) and Hasnat Yousaf (55) leading the advance to the total but fell short and were all bowled out for 214 in the final over of the game.

In the Crescent Section Rising Stars move closer to claiming the first place for the play off’s which will be played after the completion of the league season. The fixtures of the play off’s will be between the opposite team in the Star Section and the top two with the highest point will gain promotion into the Premier Section and the Crescent and Star Section Championship title will go to the team with the highest number of points, if both teams are on the same number of points the net run rate will then determine the winner. The second play off and the fourth place is very tight in the Crescent Section, as last year play off qualifier Kings XI Lahore hope to secure second place with Scouthill only 6 points behind them in third place. The forth place is currently contested by Northcliffe, Leeds Stallion and Yorkshire Lions who have just 13 points between them.

The Star Section has it top four clubs already qualified for The hundred unless AQ Khan claim maximum points for the final four games. The chase for 2nd place also remains tight as Rajpoot, Heaton Park and Wakefield Stars have just 24 points difference any team dropping points is likely not to make the play off’s. Like Rising Star Punjab have now built a healthy lead and will also claim first place for the play off’s.
