As we commence the second half of the season some interesting results today, the top half of the table match between Bhalot and Darulshafa at Liversedge Cricket Club was won by Bhalot who chased Darulshafa target of 158. Darulshafa lost early wickets with some outstanding bowling from Bhalot but Darulshafa came back from 10 for 3 to 158 for 6. Bhalot started well but lost wickets at key stages putting Daulshafa back in the game but the innings of Aqsad Ali (65) steered his club to a home win. The rest of the fixtures in the Premier Section were one sided as Whiterose beat Subhan at Park Avenue by 128 runs whilst the bottom half of the table fixture between Karmand and AK Eagles was won by AK Eagles by 5 wickets at Jinnah Arena. Diamond moved of the bottom half of the table as they secure a comfortable 95 run win over struggling Khan at The Club in York, whilst Bradford Moor lost to Kashmir by 5 wickets.
The table standings in the Crescent Section remains tight and the top five clubs are in a chance for a place in the play offs, the top of the table tie between Kings XI Lahore and Rising Star at Shadwell had a nail biting finish as Rising Star secure a win by just 1 wicket chasing a target of 162 to give them a 17 points lead at the top of the table. The remaining fixtures of the section were not as close, Northcliffe played home at Pudsey Congs to secure a 6 wicket win over Indus Bradford. The highest scoring game and a local derby between Yorkshire Lions and Leeds Stallion was won comfortably by Leeds Stallions at Woodhouse CC whilst bottom of the table match between Amaan and Nathia United at Sandy Lane was won by Nathia United who chased the target of 131 with the loss of 7 wickets. Scouthill played at Heckmondwick CC against Kings XI who struggled to chase Scouthill’s below average score of 123 and were all eventually bowled out for just 74 runs.
In the Star Section, four out of the five teams at the top half of the table won and keeps the chase for the play offs very tight, Punjab and Rajpoot maintained their place at the top of the table with Heaton Park now in third place after Wakefield Stars lost to Rajpoot by 40 runs. AQ Khan beat Central Leeds by 8 wickets to move to fifth place. Another nail biting finish as Friends beat Mylahore Tabs A by just 1 wicket as they defended their total of 179 at Almondbury CC.
