CAX’s XI Season 2023 Shield Champions

The game on a sunny Sunday was played in a true sportsmanship style with both teams recognising each others achievements in reaching the Shield final. Both team have played in the league since it’s formation and aspired to get to the final. Both clubs had narrow wins to get to the final and had to fight hard to secure their place in the final. Tabs with a young team struggled to get the momentum to build a solid partnership to set a responsible target at Jinnah Arena. Tabs were bowled out in the 38 overs with 144 runs on the board, which was around 40 runs under par for the ground. The opening pair for CAX’s XI took the attack to the bowlers and scored freely with a majestic innings from Mortimer Fraser (43). Tabs fought back and took 4 quick wickets but it wasn’t enough to secure them a win. The teams came of due to the rain with CAX’s XI needing just 11 runs to secure their first title. The match restarted just after 7.15pm and CAX’s XI scored the remaining runs also in the 38 over to secured a 5 wicket win over TABS CC. The club Secretary, Methab Afzal commemorate the match in the name of his founder member Abead Sadiq’s late mother who sadly passed away before the start of the season.

The draw for the T100 Cup Competitions were also held at the final and are as follows, the matches must be played by Friday, 21st July 2023:
