Y&SS Cup & Riaz Khan & Co Shield Report – 27th May 2018


The First Round of the Y&S cup & Sheild cup competition took place on a beautiful  Sunday afternoon, which was full of entertainment and some surprising results.

The mouth watering and much anticipated tie between Onq & Keighley RZM is still regarded as  one of the biggest fixture in the QEASCL.

The defending Champions comfortably beat RZM by 6 wickets, as they chased a very low score of 145. M Shakir picking up 4-39 & S Khan taking 4-21 gave Onq an easy  target to chase .
In reply G Razzak 62 saw His side cruise into the 2nd round of the Y&SS Cup competition.

Last year’s runners up Darulshafa also knocked out League Champions Bhalot Strikers in the first round.

A brilliant century by Aamr Rashid 125, & 67 from M Bilal gave their side a solid  total of 267 with one wicket to spare. In reply Skipper Yassir Ali scored 85 runs For strikers, however, they were all out for 191.

Another Premier League team also went crashing out of the cup competition in the first round, at the hands of a section A side. Flix were the victims, as they lost to Style CC. Style scored 206 thanks to a brave 77 from Uzair Khan. In reply Flix were all out for 189 despite a hard effort by their skipper Altaf who scored 61 for his side.

Earlmarshall comfortably beat Central Leeds by 8 wickets. Earlmarshall chased down Central Leeds total of 128 with Ibrahim Adil scoring an unbeaten 53.

H.Yousaf continued with his fine form in the cup competition as he helped his side chase down EAM’s total of 189. His unbeaten 76 saw his side crusie into round 2  after EAM were all out for 189. Despite EAM’S main batsmen M Shahnawaz  scoring  65, Kashmir Dewsbury reached their target with 6 wickets to spare.

Heaton Park were knocked out by Punjab CC as they were all out for 145. Masoor Hussain making 43 for his team. I Platel picked up 5-33 For Punjab CC, In reply Punjab reached their target with the loss of 7 wickets.

Karamand were involved in a very close match against their opponents  Rising Stars. Karamand were all out for 185 with their skipper Rashid Ayub scoring 59. In reply Rising Stars were all out for 172 despite a good effort by M Ijaz who scored 42.

Finally, White Rose were too strong for Indus Bradford as they thrashed  their opponents  by 10 wickets. A total of 171 was a reasonable score however white rose  Opening batsmen  Shokat Ali made an unbeaten century 100*  with Salaman Syed scoring an unbeaten half century 51* . The opening pair saw their side cruise into round two.

Riaz Khan & Co Shield

Skipper Shiraz scored an unbeaten century 109*  for his side, along with his colleague M Shoaib who also  contributed significantly with the bat,  scoring an unbeaten 81*. Diamond set their opponents a massive target of 342 runs  with the loss of 6 men. In reply Yorkshire Lions manage to score 267 with Shafqat Hussain scoring 76 and Abid Hussain also scoring 42.  This victory sees Diamond into the next round.

Azad knocked out the current champions Bradford Moor out of the Shield Competition. Bradford Moor scored 226-9 with Kyme Khan scoring 60 & Amjid Tariq Scoring 54. In reply an unbeaten 98* by Nabeel Raza & 45 from Vijay Milton saw Azad CC with a 3 wicket victory over the current Shield holders.

Kashmir Bradford narrowly beat  Bradford Royals in close match by 1 wicket. Bradford Royals were all out for 126 with Rashid Mehmood scoring 59. Skipper Azhar Iqbal picked 5 for 20. In reply Kashmir Bradford reached their target thanks to M Zulfiqar who scored 63.

My Lahore thrashed Chach cc by 9 wickets. Chach scored 176 with Jabbar Ahmed scoring an unbeaten 83*. M Shah picked up 4-35. In reply a magnificent unbeaten century and a massive runs partnership by M Naqvi 106* and Ehasn Ali 64* saw My Lahore in the next stage of the Shield Competition.

Green stars beat Tabs by 5 wickets. Tabs were all out for 90. Rehan Nazir took 4-20, in reply Rising Stars were 92-5 with M Saeed taking 4-24.

Raja CC comfortably beat Kings XI by 105 runs. Raja CC scored 266-6 with Kashif Talib making 78, an  unbeaten 64* by Umar Abbas and F Javed also scoring 51. In reply Kings were all out for 159, with Ejaz Ahmed scoring 62.
Rohail  Hussain picked up 4-24 as Raja CC cruised into the next round of the Shield Competition.

Krass Eagles & Shaheen both had byes.
