The Premier teams were back in action after last week’s dreadful washout. With Six teams facing uncertainty, some in trouble more than others, it was yet again, an action pack weekend of cricket in the QEASCL.
My Lahore once again showed great resilience as they fought back with a crucial win against Bhalot Strikers.
Bhalot scored 248-8 with Yasar Ali scoring (83) & Asad Mahmood (78). An all-round performance by Massawar Shah who picked up 5-44 & score 45 runs once again was instrumental for his side. Also, in the runs making were Sarfraz Ahmed (81) & Sajad Ahmed (51). My Lahore require 4 pts to survive the drop.
Along with My Lahore facing the drop to Division 1 are Kashmir Dewsbury & Earlmarshall, who both locked horns in a must win fixture for both sides. The honours went to Earlmarshall as they also chased down their opponents target of 175 with Mohammed Akmal taking 5-23. In reply Shumraiz Azam 58 & Imran Khan 41 gave Earlmarshall a vital 4 wickets victory. With this win Earlmarshall need to win 2 of their remaining fixtures from 3 to maintain a place in the Premier League next year.
RZM are clear favourites for becoming 2018 Premier Section Champions as they had a comfortable five wicket victory over relegation fighting side Flix AWB. The only player who looked promising For Flix was Skipper Mohammed Altaf who scored (67). In reply stalwart Danish Hussain (47) & an unbeaten 40* from Sajid Ali gave League Leaders maximum points. Just like Kashmir Dewsbury, Flix also need two victories to survive relegation.
Another team in serious trouble are Punjab CC who were also beaten with ease by second place OnQ. Punjab were all-out for 156 with Mohammed Hafeez scoring (47). In reply, a terrific effort by Suliman Khan, who was unbeaten on 94* gave OnQ an easy seven wicket victory over bottom place Punjab.
Finally, in the Premier League, Darulshafa gain a valuable 47 runs victory over White Rose who were all-out for 194. Earlier, Darulshafa scored 241 – 9 with Khalil Ullah (57) Amar Rashid (51) and Maaiz Khan (51). Pick of the bowlers for White Rose was Sohail Butt who took 6-23. Despite Salman Syed scoring (56) & Shoukat Ali also making (52) Amar Rashid 4-44 gave Darulshafa a crucial win. Darulshafa also require one victory from their remaining three fixtures.
Excitement isn’t limited to the Premier Section, with three teams eager to finish high as possible in Section A, the battle for promotion still continues.
Its starts with third place Raja CC who are also showing determination & hope for a place in the Premier Section next year, faced Bradford Moor in a thrilling fixture. Raja scored 188 – 9 with Waleed Anjum scoring (83). In reply Bfd Moor also scored 188 – 9 with scoring Sohail Akram (54) & Skipper Asif Amir scoring (41). With the fixture ending in a thrilling tie, Raja CC still require three wins out of three, to have any hope for a place in the Premier Section.
Riaz Khan & Co 2018 Shield winners Diamond cc as well as Section A League Leaders had an easy 158 runs victory over Style CC. Mohammed Jhanghir (71) Mohammed Shoaib (61) & Adeel Ashraf 51 gave Diamonds a good total of 256-8. Abdul Waheed taking 5-51. In reply Style were all-out for 92. Imran Patel’s unbeaten 82* gave second place Karmand an easy seven wicket victory over Rising Stars who were all out for 131.
EAM also had a seven-wicket victory over relegated side Shaheen who were all-out for 175. Imran Dawood (75) & Haroon Javed (58) scoring for Shaheen. However, an unbeaten 83* from A Raza gave EAM full points.
Heaton Park had a 45 runs victory over relegated side Tabs CC. Heaton Park scored 232 – 9 with Safwan Yousaf scoring (71) in reply Tabs settled for a losing draw 187-9 with Naveed Azmat scoring (67).
It’s a similar situation in Section B, as three teams are trying their very best to secure a place in Section A
League Leaders Central Leeds had a comfortable 178 runs victory over Kings XI. Akash A (66) & Waqar Zaheer unbeaten (58*) gave the Leeds side a massive total of 291 to defend. In reply Kings were all-out for 113, with Rafaqat Ali taking 4-24.
Krass Eagles, are also in with a chance of promotion after their easy seven wicket victory over Kashmir Bradford. Kashmir were all-out for 70. Krass Eagles face Central Leeds in a must win fixture for both sides next week, which will determine a place in Section A for both sides.
Azad showed character and resilience in their 1 wicket victory over Bradford Royals. Azad are two points behind Central Leeds in second place, and are also showing strong intentions for promotion into Section A. Royals were all-out for 213, in reply Ali Raza (50) & Nabeel Raza (44) not only gave them Maximum points but a good chance of promotion.
Finally, Yorkshire Lions beat Green Stars by 3 wickets after they chased their opponent’s target of 121
