Match Report – 19th July 2020

The inauguration matches took place today after months of delay due to Covid -19 but the excitement of getting back on the wicket was mostly certainly missed and records were set today.

The highest inning total was 306 by Whiterose, averaging at 8.75 runs whilst the lowest total 37.

Kings XI certainly had a promising started as they secured the first 9 wicket win over a relatively young side of Mylahore Tabs B, man of the match with the ball was Suhail Ahmed with figure of 5 for 5 and already in contest for the individual bowling award.

Newcomers Subhan had a relatively easy game against Mylahore Senior who also formed a new clubs this year, Mylahore Senior were bowled out for just 54, with key performance with the ball from Irfan Maqsood, 4 for 22 runs. Subhan beat them by 8 wickets.

Khan also had an easy win against Yorkshire Lions, both teams field a relatively young side and Abdullah Khan was on target with the bowl as he rapped up 4 wickets for just 12 runs to help his team Khan CC bowl Yorkshire lions out for 81 runs. Khan chased the score with the loss of just 3 wickets.

Northcliffe hosted Indus Bradford at home and made the most of the home advantage, They bowled Indus out for 150 runs, Muhammad Tayyab was the only batsmen that put a fight up for Indus. Muhammed Mann was instructional in restricting Indus to 150 as he claimed a tidy figures of 4 for 26.

Northcliffe chased Indus’s target of 150 with the loss of 7 wickets, Nasir Mahmood 48 was key in securing a win for Northcliffe. Mohammad Imran put in a fight for Indus but his figure of 4 for 18 wasn’t enough to secure a win for this club.

Central Leeds had their first game in the Premier Section with a defiant Diamond CC, Diamond elected to bat and set a target of 245 with the loss of 7 wickets in their 35 overs, the only centurion of the day was Adeel Ashraf supported by Shezad Khalid (40) both help to put Diamond in a commanding position.

Central Leeds only managed 106 in return before they were all bowled out, Nazam Hussain claim 4 wickets for just 15 runs.

Flix CC had the toughest day of them all, they lost the toss to whiterose at their home ground who made the most of the home advantage with a very strong side. Whiterose racked up 306 for 6 with performances from Farakh Hussain (64), Mohsin Hussain (69) and Cosmand Walters (60).

Flix found it impossible to bring down the run rate which ran at 8.75 runs per over. 306 to chase at Park Avenue was a big ask and it was just to much for Flix CC who were bowled out for 106 runs.

The closest and well fought game of day was between Bhalot and Darulshafa. Darulshafa batted first and set a target of 249 for the loss of just 5 wickets in their 35 overs. Performance from Adal Islam (53), Arsaam Malik 50 and an unbeaten 50 from Ammar Rashid help the club put on a well above par score for 35 overs.

On home soil Bhalot fought back lead by Yasir Ali with an unbeaten on 76 lead his club to a thrilling win with just 7 balls to spare and 4 wicket in the bag.

AK Eagles also had a comfortable win in the Premier Section as they beat Karmand by 117 runs helped by an outstanding from Farhan Hussain (60). AK Eagles played Karmand away batted first and set a total of 160 for 9 in their 35 overs, AK eagles bowled Karmand out for just 43, the second lowest score today. Young Adam Zahid claimed 7 of the 10 wickets for just 13 runs and a hart-trick to make his day a perfect one.

Bradford Moor hosted Kashmir at Esholt CC, Bradford Moor won the toss and elected to bat first, Raqeeb Younis (58) helped Bradford Moor to set a defendable total of 180.

The full strength of Kashmir was just to much for them as they chased the score with the loss of just 2 wickets, Veteran and man of the match Iqbal Khan (47, also bowling figures of 5 for 28) and Abdul wahid (55).

A very close games between Rising Star and Kings XI Lahore, Rising Star batted first and put 164 on the board with a unbeaten contribution from Maunam Ejaz (40*). Kings XI fell short by just 7 runs but with the new points system they take away additional points for their effort.

Punjab the likely favourite of competing for the top spot got of to a good start as they beat Friends at home by 60 runs. Janaid Tanveer (45) put the home side on top as he helped his team to put 180 on the board of their 35 overs. The bowled Friends out for 120 runs.

Mylahore Tabs A played Heaton Park at Saltaire CC, Mylahore Tab A batted first and scored 157 for 9, young Asif Yousaf (75) was key with the bat for the host to reach a defendable their total. The unbeaten performance from Captain, Haaris Hussain (55) took his club to secure a win by 4 wickets.
